DREW PRICE, senior PASTOR

Drew was born and raised in Sacramento, CA and grew up playing all kinds of sports.  He graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with undergraduate degrees in Marketing & History (and baseball), received his MBA from the University of San Francisco, and completed his ministry education at Western Theological Seminary.  Drew spent 20+ years as a corporate executive at AT&T and DST Systems.  God then yanked him out of business and into ministry and it's been a wild & crazy ride (it always is with God).  After pastoring two vibrant churches, one in Granite Bay, CA and another in Bend, OR, Drew came to NBC and has watched God do amazing things.  He and his wife, Kathy, have been married for over 40 years and have three wonderful daughters (Amanda, Jenny & Emily), two fantastic son-in-laws (Pierre & Kyle), and four all-star grandkids (Joel, Valerie, Mia & Joy).

Besides his leadership role at NBC, Drew founded BLAST (Building Leaders And Strengthening Teams), which guides pastors and church leaders around the world toward healthier and more effective ministries.  Drew loves family outings, traveling, hiking, biking, and sports of all kinds.

scott schneiderman, ministry development pastor

Scott loves seeing people grow in their relationship with God and each other.  He was born in Georgia and, after school, joined the Marines—traveling all over the world.  God recently led him into ministry and he's excited to work with the volunteers at New Beginnings.  He loves staying fit, creating art, playing sports, and spending time with his family.  Scott and his wife, Laura, have two children: Bella & Zion.  Scott has a bachelor's degree in Intelligence Studies from American Military University, a Master of Arts in Christian Apologetics and a Master of Divinity from Liberty University, and is currently getting his doctorate from Liberty.  He founded REQUIP Ministries to serve the larger body of Christ.

jason bourne, discipleship pastor

We don't know much about Jason's background, but we do know that he's passionate about helping people find their born identity in Christ.  Sure, he's a little intense, but his skills are needed to cut through the noise and discover the truth.

nick stewart, youth director

Nick was born and raised in Harrisonburg, and met his beautiful wife, Ikea, in high school.  They have three wonderful kids all under the age of 14: Cordell, Noah and Kinsley.  After high school, Nick worked in the construction industry and led a fitness-based ministry reaching out to college age students.  He came to New Beginnings a few years ago and realized right away the special place it is.  He loves the family atmosphere and the deep-rooted Biblical teaching.   God has clearly given Nick a passion and a giftedness for working with youth and kids.  His playful, joyful heart and his eagerness to have honest discussions about the things that really matter in life connect well with the next generation.

His mission is to ignite a fire for God in high school students, and help them understand what it means to pursue Jesus for themselves and not just because their parents do.  He wants to help kids who are struggling with different obstacles and family situations.  His fun-factor is off the charts, and his expectations of the students is just as high.  He sees a youth group with dedicated student leaders, where every student feels loved and valued, and everyone participates in the discussions and the learning and the fun.

charis LAM, g & o railroad (track45)

Charis was born and raised in the valley with her four sisters.  After high school, she wanted to leave the area and move somewhere more exciting, but she never made it too far :)  While she was on break from x-ray school, she met her husband, Elliott, right here at NBC.  So much for 'the grass is greener on the other side' approach.  The real excitement is here in the Shenandoah Valley!  Charis leads our 4th & 5th grade ministry called TRACK45 and has some great volunteers... including Elliott.  She has always had a passion to teach and disciple kids.  They inspire her with their energy and enthusiasm for Christ. This ministry is booming and we're excited to have Charis at the helm.

cynthia shank, g & o railroad (littles)

Cynthia gave her heart to Jesus her freshman year of college.  She loves serving Him wherever, whenever and whatever way He leads.  She is SOLD OUT for Jesus!  She is excited to be working with her littles—watching their eyes and seeing their smiles as they learn to put their faith and trust in Jesus.  There are lots of hugs involved too!

Cynthia married her husband, David, at the tender age of 20.  For the last 48 years, they have raised four amazing sons (although there were times that she felt like she was raising 5 boys, not 4), welcomed three great daughters-in-law, and spoiled all their grandchildren.  Cynthia loves to read, make stained glass, travel, knit, and be with family and friends.  She loves to entertain and enjoys sharing her home with others.

Ephesians 6:10-18 is how Cynthia likes to dress daily—putting on the full armor of God so she can stand firm and fearless for her Savior.

LAURA CARR, WOMEN'S ministry director

Laura was raised in a loving Christian home in Western New York and was introduced to Jesus at a very young age.  Her parents hosted a Bible Club in their basement.  As a teenager, Laura was surrounded by fantastic Christian youth leaders and friends who helped keep her on the straight & narrow… during good and shaky times.  She met her beloved husband, Bob, when she was 19 years old and they married 2 years later.  A family soon followed… with three wonderful kids (Brian, Amanda and Sam).   Laura was very active in the children’s ministry of her church when her kids were young, and was mentored by some marvelous, mature Christian women.  She decided then that she wanted mentor young moms in the future.  Bob & Laura have lived in the Shenandoah Valley for 32 years and love it!  Her kids have all chosen amazing spouses and have blessed them with nine adorable grandchildren!  Laura treasures the time she spends with her family & her New Beginnings Church family!  You may see her around with her "amazing grays" --- Godly women who build into each others lives and the lives of the young women at NBC.

cheryl landis, financial director

Cheryl is native to the Shenandoah Valley having grown up in Staunton and then moving to Harrisonburg to attend JMU.  After graduating with a BBA in 1993 she stayed in the area.  She and a girlfriend spent years faithfully praying for their future husbands and then Cheryl met Matt at church and they got married in 2005 (a real God story).  They have two sports-loving children, Kaitlyn who is 15 and Josh who is 13.  Cheryl loves to help people and mostly does that through administrative giftings the Lord has given her.  Cheryl enjoys listening to the roll of the ocean’s waves with the sun warming the sand, the cool brisk air on a walk in the fall, watching the snow fall with the blinds wide open and the fire warming the house, cheering on her kids as they play basketball and baseball, sitting in her recliner with a good book, and listening for that still small voice of the Lord.
